A 1.3 MWp grid-connected solar PV plant with generator synchronisation for the Khan Younis Wastewater Treatment Plant in Al Fukhari, built as Phase 1 of a planned 7 MWp scheme to power the treatment works. Contracted by UNDP with European Union funding and supervised by EMCC; designed and built by MACC. Taken over on 17 May 2023.

Scope of work

  • 2,610 monocrystalline 500 W modules on prefabricated Magnelis-coated steel structures at a fixed 15° tilt
  • 11 string inverters of 110 kW with data logger
  • 12,654 m² compacted kurkar base under the PV field; fence beam and 358 m of galvanised fence
  • Transformer building (39 m²), administration building (68 m²) and generator building (255 m²)
  • 24 kV 630 A metal-clad switchgear, two 1,600 kVA transformers and switchgear for PV and generator synchronisation
  • Relocation of the plant's three diesel generators into the new building and synchronisation with the PV
  • Module cleaning network (29 points), 26 lighting poles and weather station
  • MV, LV and fibre-optic cabling for SCADA, CCTV and the power-plant management system
